Duxford Autumn airshow 2005
11th March 2006

The various warbird collections based at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford are displayed at several airshows each year. The autumn show is generally the last major show of the UK season and attracts a reasonable number of participants from elsewhere.

Two 4 FTS Hawks were painted in a rather in-your-face colour scheme for the 2005 display season. Not sure if I liked it though but it was certainly eye catching.

Shooting the Duxford flightline towards the sun is not easy on the best of days, throw in the early morning fog and you can get a interesting result if lucky. The Duxford Tigercat.

Another recent restoration that has been added to the Duxford fleet, this P-51D wears the markings of a aircraft flown from the base during wartime.

Not normally my sort of thing, but a mass of Yak 50/52s make a nice shot if angled right.

Not a shot I would have tried prior to digital photography. But combine a elevated position, good lighting and the no worries of expense that comes with digital and you've got nothing to lose!

The blue painted Spit. Supposedly painted that way in 1942 to blend in with the USS Wasp's deck. I'm a big historical naval buff and I can't remember hearing that but will take HAC's word for it as it looks so good.
