Howard Cook in a former RAF Chipmunk. Howard is locally based at Bury St Edmunds and sometimes flys as the leader of a four ship of Chipmunks called 'The Red Sparrows'. 1200x800 IMG_9620.jpg 2006-08-20 13:05:26 |
Also a quite rare sight on the UK airshow circuit, is a Slingsby T67 Firefly. The aircraft is operated in the markings of the former Hong Kong Auxilliary Air Force. 1200x800 IMG_9634.jpg 2006-08-20 13:11:10 |
Tiny Cassutt air racers. One of these was flown by Caroline Grace's son. 1200x800 IMG_9706.jpg 2006-08-20 14:07:44 |
A Yak 52. Various variants, in both single and two-seat versions are flying privately in the UK. 1200x800 IMG_9716.jpg 2006-08-20 14:41:38 |
Taken in the rain (of which there was plenty!) ZH543 is new on the SAR flight at Wattisham. Two days earlier, this airframe had returned to Wattisham from a training flight with a PAN (emergency) call, the wheels wouldn't come down and lock. Upon returning the ground crew manually cranked the wheels down and locked them while it was in the hover. 1200x800 IMG_9737.jpg 2006-08-20 15:01:05 |
Little bit of honesty here - I've never liked the T-28 and I don't know why. That said, in a day of good displays this guy was probably the best with a series of fast, top-side passes. 1200x800 IMG_9765.jpg 2006-08-20 15:21:55 |
Another Rarity, a Fiat G46 taking off from Rougham's grass runway. 1200x800 IMG_9770.jpg 2006-08-20 15:23:07 |
A very typical Italian colour scheme which modellers must love! 1200x800 IMG_9775.jpg 2006-08-20 15:23:10 |
Normally - and quite understandbly - that most careful of performers, even 'Sally B' presented some pleasing angles as she banked around the top corner. 1200x800 IMG_9823.jpg 2006-08-20 16:27:33 |
By this time the sun was becoming a rarity, yet came out for 'Sally B' just at the right time. 1200x800 IMG_9826.jpg 2006-08-20 16:27:34 |
Even the BBMF got in on the act, this was there arrival pass before the split - there won't be many shows were you can get this angle. 1200x800 IMG_9834.jpg 2006-08-20 16:31:25 |
The blue undersides of AB910 against a grey sky as it twists around the display line at Rougham. 1200x800 IMG_9836.jpg 2006-08-20 16:33:01 |
BBMF Spitfire V AB910 wears the wartime desert scheme of Wg Cdr Ian Gleed, who as is RAF tradition with Wing Commanders, carried his own initals as the Spitfire's code. 1200x800 IMG_98431.jpg 2006-08-20 16:33:48 |
Of all the Spitfires flown both privately and by the BBMF, this is by far my favourite, just a shame there wasn't just a little more sun. 1200x800 IMG_9847.jpg 2006-08-20 16:33:50 |
Painted in the striking colours of a night intruder Hurricane, PZ865 looks superb as it goes around the Rougham dog-leg. 1200x800 IMG_9851.jpg 2006-08-20 16:37:23 |
